n Northeast Florida, you can overwinter pepper plants if you cover them or bring them inside in case of frost.  We plant our peppers in the fall after the major heat. We field plant them or in raised beds. If there is a chance of frost we cover them with frost blanket. You can plant them in ontainers and mover them into the garage or under cover for frost protection as well.

This allows you to get a jump on production in the spring...

    • eppers prefer rich, loamy soil. You can easily get this soil type by tilling in an inch or so of good, organic compost. Be careful with nitrogen, though. Peppers react well to nitrogen, growing so quickly that they are more disease-prone and won't produce as much.
