Copenhagen Market cabbage is a Danish heirloom variety of cabbage that was introduced in 1909:

  • Appearance: Round, solid heads that are 6–8 in in diameter and weigh 3–4 lbs
  • Flavor: Sweet and firm with a crisp texture
  • Uses: Can be eaten raw in coleslaw, steamed, boiled, or pickled
  • Growing conditions: Prefers full sun but can tolerate some shade. It can be grown in climate zones 3–9.

    Peppers prefer rich, loamy soil. You can easily get this soil type by tilling in an inch or so of good, organic compost. Be careful with nitrogen, though. Peppers react well to nitrogen, growing so quickly that they are more disease-prone and won't produce as much.
